Amateur Commercial Competition

Finalist have been determined and will be shown at the event.

Eligibility

  • In order to apply and be eligible for the prize, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
    • Must be a registered business in the state of Florida (Sunbiz.org)
    • Over 18 years of age.
    • Own the rights to any product(s), service(s), and ideas they’re advertising
    • Company / applicants may only participate in and submit one idea / video.
    • Entries cannot contain confidential information or trade secrets
    • Agree to abide by the contest rules as detailed below.
    • All commercial entries must be for family-friendly audience.
    • Submit a video commercial no longer than 30 seconds by Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at noon.
    • Fill out, sign and submit the Photograph and Publicity Consent Release Form.

How to Enter

Submitting the Commercial Competition

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. Create your commercial.
  3. Submit your entry by NOON on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 by emailing [email protected] the following:

You will receive a confirmation email of your submission within 24 business hours.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, call 407-420-4848, to coordinate us receiving your video entry.

Judging Round 1 - Preliminary

To qualify for entry, Commercials cannot be more than thirty (30) seconds in length.

A group of judges will narrow the entries down to the finalists by looking at:

  • Clarity of offer – what product or service are you selling / providing?
  • Identification of purpose – what problem does your product or service solve? How does the product or service benefit the consumer?
  • Ease of follow-up – is it clear who is selling the product/service? And when viewer is convinced that they need your product or service, what action can they take to follow up or how do they find you?
  • Energy – how well does the advertisement grab the viewer’s attention?
  • Urgency – does the advertisement make the viewer want to get your product or service now?
  • Memorability – how does the ad make your product or service stand out? Will the viewer remember the product name / your company’s name?

Finalists will be informed on Friday, May 19th and provided additional instructions for final round.

Judging Round 2 - Finals

The finalists videos will be shown live on May 24th at ConNECtions 2.0 to those in attendance and the audience will use a polling process to determine final winner.

Winner will be announced at ConNEctions 2.0 Event.

The National Entrepreneur Center (NEC) will determine the amounts of the awards and reserves the right to change the awards at any time. The NEC also has the right to cancel the awards if, at its sole discretion, it determines that there is not a suitable entrant or the winner has violated the contest rules. Awards and in-kind services are subject to change based on sponsor participation. The awards and in-kind services are non-transferable. There may be no cash or other substitutions of prizes by the winner. Individual winners are solely responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes with respect to the entire prize package.

Agreement & Disclaimer

ORIGINALITY OF COMMERCIAL

The ideas and concepts set forth in the advertisement are the original work of the Applicant and neither the Applicant nor any of the Applicant’s owners, officers or employees are under any agreement or restrictions that prohibit or restrict their ability to disclose or submit such ideas or concepts to the competition.

OWNERSHIP

The Applicant understands and agrees that the Applicant owns the rights to its ideas; however, the Applicant must properly acknowledge any trademarks or copyrighted materials of others that are incorporated into the Applicant’s materials. The Applicant is responsible for obtaining any necessary permission(s) before incorporating such materials into its competition materials – including music in video submission.  Once materials are submitted, the Applicant: (a) irrevocably grants National Entrepreneur Center (NEC) the unconditional, perpetual and non-exclusive right and permission to reproduce, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, adapt, create derivative works of, exhibit, or otherwise use the Applicant’s name and advertisement in any media throughout the world for any purpose without limitation, and without additional review, compensation, or approval from the Applicant or any other party. Submission of an idea to the Competition is considered a public disclosure of the idea. Obtaining patent, trademark and copyright clearance as necessary for your business will be the sole responsibility of the Applicant.  National Entrepreneur Center (NEC) will not be held responsible for any patent, trademark and/or copyright issues whatsoever regarding the Applicant’s own ideas and proprietary material or that of others.

WAIVERS AND RELEASES

The Applicant understands that National Entrepreneur Center, the judges, as well as any and all of the former’s successors, assigns, promotional agents, co-sponsors, insurers, principals, representatives, affiliates, franchisors, subsidiaries, participants, officers, directors, agents, shareholders, independent contractors, managers, supervisors, employees and agents (collectively the “Releasees”), are under no obligation to provide any advice or service to the Applicant. The views expressed by the Releasees are their own and not those of any other person or entity. The Releasees are held harmless by Applicant, its owners, officers, employees and agents and shall not be subject to any action arising from Applicant’s participation in this Competition.

The Applicant, its owners, officers, employees and agents, grant permission to National Entrepreneur Center to publicize their name(s), logo, and brief description of their business and commercial for marketing or other purposes.
