We will discuss the major reasons for assembling a plan, whether or not you need to obtain financing for your business. We will cover what should be in your plan and how to assemble the information you need using library and other resources.

This workshop will cover the following topics:

  • What is a business plan?
  • What are the main reasons for developing a business plan?
  • If I don’t need to raise capital to start my business, do I still need a business plan?
  • If I do need to raise capital, what will lenders want in my business plan?
  • Where can I find a business plan template I can use to get started?
  • What are the main sections of a business plan?
  • Where can I get the information I will need in a business plan?

Our presenter is Hugh McLean.

After earning his Master’s degree in Business Administration, his carrier spanned several different fields: Manufacturing, Materials Management in the food production and distribution industry; Executive Search and Placement in both Manufacturing as well as the Legal profession. He has managed a residential plumbing company as well as a Bankruptcy Law firm as the Business Manager for each entity. The latter part of his career was spent in Sales and Marketing with a product emphasis of Payroll, Workman’s Comp and Health Insurance. Hugh as owned 3 business, 2 of which he sold successfully and is currently operating a third.

For the Last 8+ years he has been a SCORE Certified Counselor working mainly in Nassau County as well as a Workshop presenter.
