About

The Florida State Minority Supplier Development Council (FSMSDC) is one of 23 regional councils affiliated with the National Minority Supplier Development Council. FSMSDC is the state leader in advancing business opportunities for certified Black, Hispanic, Asian and Native American business enterprises, including connecting them to member corporations. FSMSDC has more than 40 years of experience successfully identifying and developing minority-owned businesses, matching them with procurement opportunities, helping Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) increase capacity, and delivering programs that help MBEs create and retain jobs, as well as grow revenues. The organization also provides technical business services, including the development of a pool of contracts and finance opportunities, direct matching of opportunities with qualified/vetted MBEs, relationship management and deal-sourcing initiatives.

FSMSDC is a 501(c)3 non-profit that was founded in 1975. The mission of the FSMSDC is to link Corporate and Government Members with Minority Business Enterprises to foster equity in business. FSMSDC’s goal is to increase purchasing from minority businesses by government entities and corporations, while increasing the operating capacity of minority businesses through hands-on business assistance, training and access to technology and capital resources.

FSMSDC has the distinction of being the largest minority-owned business development organization in Florida. To date, our work in Florida has contributed to more than $50 billion in products and services procured from MBEs. FSMSDC is the administrator of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Specialized Development Program, a Florida statewide contract through which the FSMSDC assists Prime Contractors in meeting their DBE goals. During the past five years, the organization has helped DBEs win more than $400 million in contracts with FDOT.

Currently, FSMSDC operates:

– Technical Assistance Program (TAP) – designed to help your business thrive in today’s complex, rapidly changing, and uncertain environment. TAP provides professional assistance and training from expert business consultants and coaches.

And more.

Previously, the FSMSDC was the operator of the Minority Business Development Agency’s Orlando and Miami Business Centers. The Centers delivered business consulting services to minority-owned firms, provided them with increased access to public and private sector contracting opportunities, financing, and capital investment. Staff assisted minority firms with obtaining large-scale contracts and financial transactions; accessing corporate supply chains; facilitating joint ventures, teaming arrangements, mergers and acquisitions; conducting export transactions; and performing minority business advocacy. During the past five years, the Centers helped minority businesses with more than $1 billion in transactions and created more than 2,500 new jobs.

The FSMSDC holds more than 35 major events each year, including three signature events, 20 committee meetings and 10 industry meetings. Staff also attend more than 150 outreach activities each year. Combined, our events have more than 5,000 people in attendance.
